SHINE IS HIS LAST NAME.
Since its inception in December 2018, Eduardo Caires’ brand has been winning over clients with its laid-back glamour. The very first piece created was a customized fanny pack adorned with brooches, crystals, and rhinestones.
Today, the brand produces earrings, body chains, necklaces, belts, and handbags—all handcrafted through a highly artisanal and unique process. With his brand, Eduardo reinvents a raw material that has always existed, giving it new form both in silhouette and in product type. “My goal is to break away from the traditional rhinestone earring-and-necklace set, which was very popular in weddings during the '90s and 2000s, and bring a cool, youthful, urban vibe,” he explains.
Another facet of his work is the customization of vintage finds from thrift stores. Jackets and blazers are embellished with crystals, safety pins, stones, and brooches. Eduardo is also passionate about the punk universe. These elements blend into his aesthetic alongside the extravagance of the '80s—think sparkles, shoulder pads, puffed sleeves, rhinestone fringe, and brooches.
His pieces are genderless—one of his most powerful transgressions. Detaching shine from the feminine stereotype is a challenge Eduardo has embraced—and he’s doing an incredible job at it.
